New Novak Kinetic brushless system |
|
Monday, 05 July 2010 |
|
Novak is to start shipping the Kinetic speed controls at the end of July 2010.
After years
of
designing, testing and perfecting, Novak – the forerunner of speed
control technology – has completed its greatest engineering
accomplishment. Novak’s flagship Kinetic
Racing Brushless ESC (#1740), which is available in eight Kinetic/Ballistic
Brushless Systems – 5.5T-21.5T (#3142-#3149), includes all of
the most sought after speed control features in R/C racing, such as
Novak’s Dynamic Timing Advance™, which features a cutting-edge timing
system that is exceptionally smooth throughout all of the timing
levels; the advanced NovaBrakes™ system, which provides instantaneous
braking under any timing condition; and the highly developed Thermal
Overload Protection feature, which prevents thermal overload without
taking drivers out of the race. But it wouldn’t be a Novak speed
control if the Kinetic did not include some brand new features that will
inevitably raise the standard for speed controls throughout the
industry.
The Kinetic
1S Racing Brushless ESC (#1741) is optimized for 1S Li-Po
racing: It sports a low-profile heat sink for easy installation in
vehicles with space constraints and is also wired for use with a 2S
Li-Po receiver battery pack. Like the original Kinetic 2S, this speed
control includes all of the most sought-after ESC features, such as
Novak’s redesigned Dynamic Timing Advance™, which is
now unbelievably smooth throughout all of the timing levels; the
advanced NovaBrakes™ system, which provides
instantaneous braking under any timing condition; and a highly
developed Thermal Overload Protection feature that
prevents thermal overload without taking drivers out of the race.

2010 MuchMore Masters Race report by Timothy Lee.
The Muchmore Masters is held every year at the Sydney
Model Autosports radio control car club, which is a small multi-layout outdoor
medium traction track. This year the track was quite technical with a tricky
center chicane. Attendance was low compared to previous years but racing was
enjoyed by all participants. For 2010 the major sponsors were Northern Beaches
Hobby centre and Hobby Express International who also provided the control tyre,
a premounted Muchmore absolute V-32 for all touring car classes with one set
being available for the 6 qualifying heats in both the Stock and Super-Stock
classes and two sets being available for qualifying in the Modified class, with
the option to use another set for all A-finalists.

Novak’s Ballistic 550 Brushless Motors |
|
Thursday, 20 May 2010 |
|
Novak’s
Ballistic 550 Brushless Motors (#3504-#3506) are the first 550-sized motors to break into short course competition and easily outperform traditional
540-sized motors. The Ballistic 550s are so powerful because of their extra long stator and rotor
magnet. The stator and rotor magnet are twice the length of 540-sized motors, giving
them twice the torque of an equivalent 540 motor. The more torque, the more speed
that is generated! Additionally, these larger-sized motors run cooler and more
efficiently than their 540 counterparts. These high-powered machines are the motors of choice at
small, indoor race tracks and easily install into OFNA’s® Hyper 10 SC Pro 4x4 Kit™, OFNA’s®
Jammin’ SCRT 10 4X4 Kit™, Traxxas’® Slash 4X4 4WD Short Course Trucks™ and many other 1/10-scale short course trucks.
